Pressure for Pre-Com week

Pre-Com week will be on in just a couple of weeks.
I feel very pressured...I mean, we all feel very pressured.
There's a lot to do for the organization. We're always at the Mezzanine Room for the fitting of the Pre-Com shirts. And then there's a lot of "pasaway" students pa kasi we have to remind and remind them again and again that they must have to go and check out their sizes because it's required. They still have grudges about the outcome of the Pre-Com shirts last year because it turned out bad. They thought that the previous batch is just the same with our batch of officers..they're totally wrong. Actually, mahirap lang namang pakiusapan yung ga 2nd year students..1st year students are just okei.
Yesterday we did something funny pa together with my friends...hehe.

Inside the Mezzanine room, there's some AB uniforms...those that we're not claimed perhaps during the enrollment. Dane saw it first and we decided to try it on. We're already bored with our white Commerce uniforms so we're excited to wear something different. Besides, we're just inside the Mezzanine room and there's no students inside except the 3 of us and a staffer that time. After we tried it on, enjoy na enjoy talaga kami. It looks good on us! Nagpicture-picture pa kami sa fone ni Medz para may remembrance and para mapakita namin sa mga classmates namin. Sana nga ganon nalang yung uniform namin eh. The skirt is color blue.. it'sa bit wide and the blouse has a necktie on it. It's soo cool. It's just a bit warm nga lang..maybe because of the type of cloth. But it's really a fantastic experience. We've became AB students for a couple of minutes. We look so cute...sana talaga same style nalang nung sa kanila yung uniform namin.

Back to the pressure:
This week is the passing of project proposals. I don't have to pass any project proposals because I'm the Executive Secretary..my work is to do letters that they need for their projects. But I do feel pressured for them. My friends have their respective projects. Dane will have her MASTERMINDS quiz bee on that week and Medz will have her CAKE RAFFLE on Valentine's Day.. We have so many work to do. It's hard to be an officer especially when you also heavy loads for school works.

Right now, I'm having a really bad time on our Computer Lecture Subject. Computer is an easy subject..the professor just makes it complicated. Our lesson as of now is about Flowcharts and it's really giving me a headache. I can't understand a single thing... Our professor said that we "just have to practice". It's like it's soo easy.. but why does all of us have failing grades...grrRR!!

And then next week will be our Preliminary Examinations. I'm just thankful that we have no classes for the today. Thanks to Quiapo Day! After this I'm gonna study right away..we have this long assignments for Sociology pa...haaay!

We were supposed to have an Impromptu Speech but, sadly, I wasn't called. I really liked the questions pa naman given by our professor, Mam Puno. It's about love, friendship and your relationship with your classmates. Next meeting will no longer be an Impromptu activity...she said that she will be projecting some abstract pictures that we have to expound about. That will be on Friday pa because we don't have classes on Wednesday..It's Quiapo Day! At least..we're given ample time to rest... (.^__^.) oh, but still I have to study because Preliminary Examinations will be next week.

The reason, by the way, why I wasn't given the chance to express myself is because Mam Puno asked me and Dane for a favor to type on Word the schedule for the Pre-COm week celebration early this February. This will be given to our dean. I just got a bit irritated and sad because she cancelled some of our activities like the Pre-Com Bazaar. Ayaw niya daw kasi ng mga benta-benta stuffs. What's the point of being a Commerce student if we won't put into action the things that we learn? I just can't find any reason why...the things that each class will sell are cheap ones naman..so students will not give out big lumps of money. Nanghihinayang lang talaga ako sa activity...luckily, it's not my project.

To Joan:
Hey, bestfriend! Check out this link..eto ang special friend ng iyong "used to be favorite basketball player sa UST!"..hehe! syempre ako fave player ko parin siya eh. If you're interested lang naman.. You know what, si Maann pa ang nagnews sa akin nun. Super updated talaga yung girl na yun..wala na rin kasi akong masyadong news about sa kanya and sa kanila. By the way, they won sa PBL..Harbour Centre won and I didn't even watched it rin. If ever you have time check out na rin his friendster account..the one with the III on it. He had newly updated picsPhotobucket and ngayon ko lang din siya nakita.

Okei??!! give me your comments about this. Maann even told me na awayin ko daw siya...haha! weird talaga nun. (.^__^.)
Go on JOAN!

Christmas Party for Pre-Com

It's our Christmas Party for Pre-Com Society. It's my first time to enjoy this party even though last time we had a party when I was still a junior officer for this organization. Last time kasi, we're just a junior officer - - - It felt like we don't have the guts pa to enjoy the party together with the executive officers back then. Hindi pa nga kami kasama sa exchange gifts noon eh. And then there's some issues pa that time so I didn't really enjoy that much. We just sit and watched the party last year.

But now that we are the executive officers na..we made the party really enjoyable and welcoming for our staffers and new batch of junior officers. Syempre, we don't want them to feel what we've felt last year. We had some games, lots of foods kasi nagpa-cater kami not like last year na bumili nalang kami ng pancit near UST, and exchange gifts wherein lahat nakasali.
As for my baby, I got Catherine Saw. She's a ju
nior officer and we're a bit close especially noong UAAP season kasi kasama siya sa mga boosters ng Yellow Jackets every cheering time. Syempre, kinukwneto niya sa akin yung about sa games pag hindi ako nakakapanood ng live sa Araneta Coliseum. So we became a bit close. I can't think of any gift for her so I just gave her Cadbury chocolates worth P150.00. She liked it naman..I doubt na hindi niya yun magustuhan...who will say no to chocolates? (.^__^.)

We had games like charades <--- (don't know the right spelling..), newsp
aper dance and a different kind of trip to Jerusalem. Well, I've seen this kind of trip to Jerusalem game but it's not the traditional type. Diba, yung traditional type is that mag-uunahan yung mga guys and girls na umupo sa mga chairs na naka circular position in the middle when the music stops. We made it a bit more exciting...the guys will be seated in the chair and the girls will go around them as the music goes. When the music stops, the girls will hurry to the guys to sit in their laps...haha! It's really funny talaga. Hindi na ako sumali sa kanila...it's not that I don't like that type of game... I'm just one of those officers na acted as referee for the game. I wanted to join talaga..but not that much..hehe!
As for my gift, Alex got me and he gave me a Santa Cap from Blue Magic wit
h Chocolates inside it. It's really cool..fit for Christmas and I like it. I planned to take a picture wearing that cap. Maybe when we go to Global Fun Carnival at MOA this Christmas Vacation. Just refer to my Friendster profile if I've uploaded some pics already.

After the Christm
as Party...it's around 6:00pm na. I'm really in a hurry na kasi I have to go to Megamall pa for the Simbang Gabi. But then when we went out of our building, UST really looks soo good! With all the Christmas decorations...seems like ang sayang mag-picture-picture! So together with my friends Dane, Medalene, Nikko, Scylla and Debbie..we had our group pictures taken. Like these:

Enjoy... (.^__^.)

Long vacation...

We’ve got no classes for today until Sunday! I’m having mixed emotions about this.

First, of course I’m so happy because I’ve got ample time to rest and make up for those 3 to 4 hours of sleep and all those pressure made by the preparation for our General Assembly for Pre-Com Society.
Second, I’m sad… because as what I’ve said…it’s because of our General Assembly. It’s supposed to be this coming Saturday but because of the class cancellation made by PGMA nationwide for SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) registration and elections, our GA is affected. Now we’ve got a very huge problem! All venue reservation was cancelled yesterday..even the band that we’ve asked to perform was cancelled. Tickets were already distributed to each classes, some already gave their payments for it and we don’t have any idea when will we re-schedule it. All venue reservations for September were already full.

No space for Pre-Com society…so sad! =(

At least the Mr. and Ms. Pre-com Personality Pageant is unmoved on Aug. 25. That must happen…I do hope there’s no class suspension on that day..if there’s any..we’re doomed!
All our efforts were worthless..sayang talaga! The time that we’ve dedicated to make it successful was just blown away.
I do hope that we can solve our problems soon..
Anyways, we just have to think positive! I believe that there’s a reason why these things happen. There’s a lot of more good things in store for us..we just have to believe and have faith! Just continue working hard..

Since we’ve got no classes…This will be the right time to update my blog. I really don’t have any more time to update here.. but since it’s my blog I think I already have an obligation for this. I must..but I enjoy it naman eh..=)

Just yesterday, I got so irritated dun sa isang professor ng NSTP. Since may mga rumors na mawawalan na rin ng classes on Saturday and Sunday, Me, Bea and Medz decided to ask their office located at the Tan Yan Kee building if the Preliminary examinations on Sunday will be postponed. When we’re there at their faculty room and asked for the Sunday classes..tinarayan pa kami nung isang girl dun. I’m disgusted dun sa reaction niya..she can say it nicely naman since we asked them in a polite way.
But just last night..I’ve checked on our eleap (where announcements for NTSP are posted) that the prelims will cancelled.
Well…that’s what you call karma!
I just don’t like those kind of people..it’s better not to mingle with them..they’re not the kind of people to waste your time for.
I’m glad that suspension are extended until Sunday..I’m not yet that prepared din kasi for the prelims..at least I’ve got more time pa to study. Oo nga pala, I have to start studying na rin for our preliminary examinations for our academic subjects. It will start on August 13. And we still have our departmental exam for Economics. Our departmental exam for Management was already cancelled. Our college decided na next sem nalang since may mga under program pa yung Management like Finance and Marketing. Marami akong lessons na dapat i-review. I have to start now..I barely have a week.

I think we also don’t have classes this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday, for the AM session only, because the faculty members will have a meeting which will start at 7:00am. Classes will resume at 1:00pm..so our schedule was affected.
Wednesday, because it’s the feast day of one of our patron saints, St. Dominic.

Since we don’t have classes on Wednesday, I can be able to watch on Star Sports 32 the Rogers Masters Tennis Cup which will be held on Montreal, Canada. Roger Federer will defend his title there for the 2nd time, I think? I’m so excited..I can see Federer again playing..I kinda miss him and his moves on the court. He’s really fantastic..and good-looking..haha!
I’ve saw a picture of him when he’s still a bit young. I’ll share it here..he still got his long hair..look closer! (.^__^.)

See…what level are you? (.^__^.)

UST will have a game vs. ADMU tomorrow. It’s a do or die game so that UST will be included on the final 4 list of teams for the first round. Support UST.. Go tigers!

Okei..till here nalang. Just look below this post for my updates last July 27, 26, 25 and 24. So sorry for the late update. If wala pa..I’ll just tell it on my cbox if I already updated it..Thanks! Bye! (.^__^.)

Pre-com Society Turn-over ceremony

Last May 4, 2007, the Pre-com Society held its turn-over ceremony dubbed as "Paalis Na Kayo...Papunta Na Kami" at the Audio Visual Room (AVR), 5th floor of the St. Raymunds Building - College of Commerce. This event was participated by the outgoing and incoming Pre-com officers, Mr. Ronald Manalo (one of Pre-com Society's advisers) and Mr. Jaime Nuevo (head of the Pre-com department).
So, what's a turn-over ceremony ba? The 1st time I heard about this was during our JS Prom wherein we Seniors have to turn-over or bequeath the duties and responsibilities we had for our alma mater to the incoming Seniors. In the same manner, this turn-over ceremony we had for PCS (Pre-com Society) represents the passing-on of responsibilities by the outgoing officers to us, newly deserving ones, who will lead the whole Pre-com department for this coming academic year 2007-2008.

Syempre we, Junior Board officers prepared some activities to make this event a lively, funny and, most of all, a memorable one. First we had this "Guess Who" game where each of us tried to portray each incumbent officers their different personalitites in a comical perspective. Super funny talaga yung skit na ginawa namin for them. We made it sure na hindi foul yung way ng pagpoportray namin sa kanila so that hindi sila maooffend. Kami nina Medz and Dane, since were TRIO ...ginaya namin sina Ate Lao, Grace and Rexa - - the Banana Gurlz! Me as Grace, Dane as Rexa and Medz as Lao. It's really hard to portray them lalao na yung dance step and song na kinompose nila tungkol sa mga saging... (that's why they're called the Banana Gurlz..!) I was really shy that time kasi I have to sing a line or two from any song because the one I have to portray won as a runner-up in the Commerce Idol singing contest of our college. Everything turned out the way we planned things earlier that morning and everyone was really happy.

Special award were also given to them which further described their funny identities. Examples of these awards are the "Load Mo Ako Award", "Green Mind Award", "Banana Umf Award" and a lot more.

Afterwards each officer were placed in the hot seat wherein hot seat question were grilled to them by one of the hosts. Their answers to these questions revealed their true feelings towards their co-Precom officers and their own experiences for the past year. Yung host tuloy namin naging "Boy Abunda wannabe!".. hehe.. =)
April birthday celebrants Charen Natal, Grace Lucero and Jas Casper Ong were recognized through special messages and audio visual presentations prepared by their closed friends and by the Pre-com officers as well.
After that, here's the climatic part for this event. Outgoing Pre-com President announced to everyone the set of newly appointed PCS officers with their respective positions. This is what we've all been waiting for. Honestly, this was the part where I recalled the times when I was still a Junior Officer (reminiscing moment?!)...the commitment I've given to this organization had finally paid off. Finally I, myself, will be an executive officer. What an achievement!
Let me present to you the Pre-com Society officers for this academic year 2007-2008
**LOUD APPLAUSE PLEASE!** (.^__^.)
President: Nikko Gomez
Vice President Internal: Alisxandre Sy
Vice President External: Richmond Yu
Executive Secretary: Marielle Flores (that's me!)
Treasurer: Alex Arnan
Auditor: Ma. Medalene Mapili
Public Relations Officer (PRO): Mark Garcia
Academic Affairs Head: Dane Matela
Marketing Head: Debbie Piodo
Socio-Cultural Jayson Ong Teleng
Human Resource Officer: Lionel Ng
Logistics and Operations: Eusebius Cuevas III
As for me, I was really happy to get the position as an Executive Secretary since my position last year was the Assistant Secretary. I'm on the internal part wherein I have to communicate with the Dean and other important figures of our college and of the university as well. They gave me this position because I was trained about this work even though the real secretary resigned during the earlier part of the first semester. I almost became her replacement though I wasnt given the chance because I was still a freshman then.
Anyways, we've got loads of activities prepared for this "Pre-com Year" as what they usually say.
Be ready for Pre-com X - The New Generation!
Congratulations to all of us! (.^__^.)

...For more pictures and informations pls visit this site which I, personally, created. I serves as the webmaster of this site...hehe..though it's not that much! It's still undergoing some renovations. Pls bear with me! =D

PS: Thanks Keiya for the pics! (.^__^.)

Leadership Training Seminar

LTS stands for Literacy Training Service if you're talking in terms of ROTC but for Precom Officers, LTS means Leadership Training Seminar. This seminar are for those students who are aspiring to be leaders or who has leadership skills. It's goal is to develop the leadership abilities of a person or a group for the convenience of those whom he/she leads.

We were required by our adviser to attend this 3 day seminar from April 26 to 28 (Thursday to Saturday) entitled as "Catalyst" which will determine what position will they give to each one of us according to our participation in this said activity.
For a brief discussion, what does Catalyst means by the way?
Looking back from our past lessons in Chemistry, Catalyst is a substance that causes or speeds a chemical reaction without itself being affected.
So Catalyst and a Leader is somewhat related, right?!

Last Thursday we were oriented about the characteristics of a true Leader and what is expected from him/her. We were also given a chance to determine what kind of leader are we by answering some questions and by finding out what traits or characteristics are we looking for from our present leaders of today. Our guidance counselor told us that those traits that we were looking for in a leader are the traits that we possess or can posses during the time of our leadership. It's really fun to listen to our speakers and to participate in the activities that they had prepared for us. I really learned alot.

Last Friday our first activity was entitled as Amazing Race. This activity has the purpose of orienting us about the important places in UST which are related in the activities and events that we will plan for our organization. These are the places where we can ask for forms and submit letters whenever we have to reserve an auditorium, a gym or any particular area where we will celebrate an event. These are also the places where we can borrow other materials needed for an activity. We were grouped into two which is composed of 4 members. By chance the groupings that were formed was really funny. The other group was composed of 3 boys and a girl, while our group was composed of 3 girls and a boy. Nikko even reacted about the groupings and even voiced out that it's not fair..
"Ang daya naman...tingnan mo yung group namin..ako lang yung isang lalaki dito.."
he's referring to the group where I belonged. Others reacted that it's alright..others even teased him na he's a sexist! As for me, the composition doesn't really matter. What matters the most is the determination, the fun and the facts that we will learn and experience for this activity. Well, chcolates for a prize isn't bad at all!

The race begun and as usual the other group dashed right away for the first stop..the Commerce Dean's office. Super bilis talaga nilang tumakbo compared to our group..actually kawawa nga si Debbie eh kasi napag-iwanan na talaga siya. As for us three girls: Me, Dane and Medz it took us a hard time to catch-up with Nikko. Ang bilis talaga niyang tumakbo.. Actually napagod kami sa paghabol kay Nikko hindi sa pagpunta sa mga places sa UST..hehe.. (.^__^.)
After 48 minutes, we finished the game and we lost! The other group finished for 40 minutes..they're faster compared to us for 8 minutes. Okei lang naman yun, we accept our defeat and the consequence. What more can we do? So we were asked to buy our lunch at Lovelite. The good part is, the other group helped us to buy the foods..ang bait naman!..

After eating one of the officers told us about the benefits of being a Pre-Com officer. There's a lot of benefits actually..it's a privilege rin pala to be an officer. I thought puro works lang talaga...pero syempre I must not be overwhelmed by that. Work is still the no. 1 priority.

Honestly..I'm having a bit of a problem on how to balance studies and organization. Ooopss..wrong statement..again again..
Honestly.. I'm having a bit of a problem on how to give my focus for the organization. 90% for studies and 10% for organization. Is that possible? (.^__^.)
