2nd sunday of LTS

I think I haven't shared to you about our LTS here in my blog yet.
Now, allow me to share it to you...
LTS = LITERACY TRAINING SERVICE. This my chosen NSTP program and our outreach program had started last last Sunday..I think February 17 (day before my birthday!)

I'll describe to you my feelings during our 1st encounter with our learners, the Aetas.
I can still remember back then that I'm so excited about our trip to Tarlac Pampanga at Sitio Mabilog. Gabi palang, ready na talaga ako, para kasing fieldtrip eh.. like nung higschool. Naalala ko rin yung experience ko at Sitio Calumpang during my Senior highschool year. We gave catechism for the young aetas and had our medical mission accomplished. It's really a fulfilling experience that's why I'm soo happy that I was blessed to have it another try.

My friends always shared to me na nag-enjoy talaga silang turuan yung mga bata. They told me that I must not be afraid or mailang na turuan sila kasi mabilis rin silang matuto and maka-pick up even though they had little educational background. Fresh air pa and napaka-green ng environment. In other words, huge counterpart ng Manila. With all these in mind, I was very excited to pack my things, prepare my lesson plan and leave home kasi 7:00am yung call time. I don't want to have this again during my 3rd year, that will be really hard for I have already my major subjects by then.

So, what can I say after my 1st experience??
Hmmmm...can I say it's a dangerous experience...?? life-thrilling?? one of a kind adventure?? I think so... (.^__^.) Just imagine, nilalakad namin yung mabato, maalikabok at makipot na daan habang nasa background mo yung mga puno, at iba't-ibang classses of flowers, plants and leaves. O diba? exposure trip pala ang aming LTS. Medyo may pagaka-flat footed kasi ako eh kaya I'm prone to slides and the like. Buti nalang I reached my 19th birthday pa..remember yung 1st LTS namin was during February 17..a day before my b-day. They say that one's life will always be in danger when his/her birthday celebration is fast approaching. Luckily, I was saved by my guardian angel. Promise, after naming ma-reach yung top ng mountain, naiiyak ako sa tuwa..kasi I survived!

As for my aeta learner, her name is Joan! She's really sweet and very cool. I could see that she really wants to learn...her favorite subject is Science! During our 1st meeting, she gave me a crown of flowers and placed it on my head. She's so sweet, isnt it? Ako lang yata sa mga classmates ko na may crown of flowers that day. Yes, special?! hehe!

During our 2nd LTS, okei na ang lahat.
My learner gave me papaya, a thanksgiving offering, and I'm very delighted. Nung highschool ako, puso ng saging pa yung binigay. Pero I'm happy for the papaya...not all of us were given kaya i'm very fortunate.

So, I think I'll stop here. I'm a bit exhausted na...I need to rest my bones and muscles to energize myself even though we have no classes tom. I need to charge-up!

PS: By the way, thanks to Michael for carrying my bag habang nagha-hiking tayo. I know it's super heavy kasi ang daming laman nun that time kasama na yung papaya na bigay ni Joan...hehe! Thank you parin... =)

Taratatatanan! Lakas!

It's the start of my "back to normal" student mode. I'm so happy!
I left school at exactly 3:00pm.
That's something new for me... for about a month? But I know this will not last long..we've got lots of projects so for sure I have to dedicate a lot of time for that. Most of them are group projects so we need to have enough time to do it after our class. At least it does not involve our org anymore.

Anyway, my day today is quite okei. Well actually, the end part of our class for today kinda spiced-up my day. This period of the month is already the campaign period for the Commerce Student Council. It just so happens that one of my friend is a candidate for one of the positions for next year. I'm excited kasi nandun yung isa kong crush and then excited din sa reaction ng mga classmates ko. One of my classmates kasi, Charmane, will run for the Student Council with the different party, Salakot. I'm just curious with their reactions or violent reactions. Luckily, wala naman. Actually, I was shocked kasi all out support pa rin yung mga classmates ko sa kanila.

The BEST! Si Kuya Regi nga, yung Mr Pre-Com winner last year, sumayaw pa.. Kailangan daw yun kasi nga running for president siya. He needs to gain that respect.

Anyway, please vote for LAKASDIWA party-list for those Thomasian Commerce Students reading this. Vote wisely on February 15, 2008. Here are the candidates:

No more parade... =(

Photobucket1st day of February...
Love month...
Birthday month! yehey! Photobucket

Wow...it's the month of February already. Time is speeding so fast. I just felt like going to school after the Christmas break and now, Valentine's Day will be happening soon? Wait, break please. I'll be 19 within 18 days. I'm not hurrying that much.

Anyway, it's my PE day today and I received a very bad trip news! My professor just reminded me that I have to make-up the class that I wasn't able to attend to last time. It's my very first time to encounter such professor to give make-up class for a PE subject. I mean, what can she do if I can't make it to her PE class. What if I'm sick or I have to go somewhere important? I think make-up class is only worthy for academic subjects ONLY. And here's another gggrrrRR-ing news...I must have a make-up class on M-W-F, 7 to 11am ONLY. I reasoned out that that's the schedule of my class at Commerce so I asked if she can give me another schedule. A schedule on the afternoon, perhaps? She just replied: "Aba...bahala kayo. Mai-incomplete ang grade niyo pag hindi kayo nagmake-up class". kayo means Me and my classmate Kai.
Can she just excuse us and give us a passing grade for that game? Besides my team lost... a passing grade can be okei. I'll make it up on the next game, perhaps. But, what can I do? She's the professor..I'm the student. No more questions asked.

Even though I have my PE class today, I still have to work for Pre-Com..especially that our week is just beyond reach. Imagine, I'm going to the dean's office and at the Office for Student Affairs wearing my Softball uniform. It looks okei naman..not that embarrassing. It's just not that student-like for me...that's all.

If I can just describe my work and all the news that had happened to me today, I would say: It's DEPRESSING, SHOCKING and TIRING.
First of all, the Pre-Com parade was cancelled. We had a big problem regarding asking permission from the Secretary General and Vice Rector for Finance of UST. Who would have known that we have to ask permission pa from them thru letter. I felt tuloy that I was the one responsible for it kasi I'm the one in-charge with the letters. But, on the other side, no one even told me that the letter is needed. I would have done that kind of letter if someone reminded me. Miss A, the one in-charge for Student Affairs at OSA (Office for Student Affairs) even told me that I must ask the help from our adviser..and our adviser must talk to our Fr. Regent so as to talk to our Secretary General, which happens to be a priest also, to approve our parade on Monday. Miss A even used the word bulong which sounds really funny. It's quite funny seeing a priest whisper to another priest in order to approve something. But that's a good suggestion, actually.

When I brought the news to our headquarters and to our adviser...we all panicked. Well, not all...I'd rather say, SOME. Some were much focused with the Pre-Com night..they don't have a clue that the Parade might not push through. And so, that happened. We didn't find Fr. Regent at the Dean's office so Mam Puno had a heart to heart talk with our dean. I wasn't able to hear their conversation because they're both inside the dean's private office. I'm with Sir Nuevo and Mam Rosete..talking about the plans for our Pre-Com week now that the traditional Parade will be cancelled.

I'm just a bit happy that Sir Nuevo asked me if I'll still be a Student Assistant this summer. Of course, I said YES! I thought they're going to change us na...luckily I'll be staying.

I wasn't able to wait for Mam Puno because I have to go home na. It's 6:00pm on my watch and that's not good. I just received a text just now from Jayson (our president) that the Pre-Com parade is cancelled. That's really depressing... =(
