It's a little bit dark this afternoon. I don't know if it will going to rain or not. I know there's 3 typhoons here in the Philippines but it's not yet sure if Manila will be affected. So, there's still classes, for sure. A while ago there's an earthquake that shook Manila..i think the epicenter is in Palawan but some said that it's a bit strong. As far as I could remember, we were at the Main building to get our elevator passes. Yup, I have an elevator pass AGAIN! yahoo! After 3 weeks of going up and down the stairs, finally, I won't get tired na. PLease forgive me for being lazy..one semester na lang naman eh and then it's over na. (.^__^.)
Back to the earthquake thingy, I honestly didn't feel it. I'm so weird talaga. I really want to feel it naman kasi I think 3 years old pa ako nung last time na nafeel ko yung intensity ng earthquake and I'm at our province pa way back. Pero I don't want naman yung mga malalakas na magnitude..that's so much na. Siguro nga magnitude 5..okei na! hehe..just joking!

By the way, we have no classes daw on Friday because of the Bonifacio Day celebration...that's really good! That means I have no PE class. Pero, it's a bit sad na rin in one way because my PE class is Softball and it's a bit fun playing that sport. Even though babad ka sa initan, it's okei kasi marami talagang skills na matututunan sa game na toh. It's like baseball! It's fun talaga. Plus, I love our uniform. Our shirt color is blue green..really cute. Bagay pa sa akin..hehe!

I just want to share our Speech lesson last time. We're on the IPA chart lecture na. IPA stands for International Phonetic Association and it's about saying the right pronunciation of a certain word. It's a really fun topic because there's a lot of word that is weird to pronounce. My tongue and mouth just do the work..haha! And then our professor, Ms. Puno gave us an exercise to check if we can already give the phonetic counterpart of the words she will dictate but first is that we must know the correct spelling of those. Well, I think ang mas naging purpose ng activity na ito is to check our spelling ability. I mean, all those words she dictated were a bit weird..because she pronounced it in a weird yet correct way. Here's some examples:
Abattoir
-this word I usually pronounce as "abatoir" but it's correctly pronounce as "abatwa". How on earth can I spell that? I got this wrong.. =(
Bourgeoisie
-this word I usually pronounce as "burgois" but it's correctly pronounce as "borshwuzey". Gosh... is this a french word? I want to learn their language..right now! (.^__^.)
Buffet
- well, i got this correctly..no worries!
Colonel
- I got this too... I remember I had this one incorrectly way back when I was in my highschool years. I spelled it as Kernel... huh? Corn Kernel...?? I learned from my mistakes, you know!
Encore
- i got this one too! Someone from my classmates spelled it as Anchor.. I guess you have an idea now how it is pronounced..=)
Loquacious
- i got this one wrong just because of a letter!!... I put letter i between a and c. That's really sayang..that's one point na sana.
Rendezvous
- i got this one correct. I remember, Craig David had one song with a title like this.
Aisle
- I'm correct here. I remember when I was still young, I usually ask my Mom if we can go to mass and sit near the Aisle... =) Well, now no more. I want at the sides na eh!
Depot
- I got this correct. I remember, there's a clothing store at Edsa Shaw way back named as "Designer's Depot". I don't know if you encounter this store ever.
Le Jean de Marithe Francois Girbaud
- how can I be wrong with this??
Esprit de Corp
- I'm correct in here again. I heard this term last semester during one of our Management classes.
Faux Pas
- I'm correct here..I don't know how did I get this one. I think I read it somewhere. Know what how it is pronounced? Like this: "faw pa"..haha!
Cupboard
- it seems simple..just a word cupboard. But lots of my classmates were wrong here. It's pronounced kasi as "kabord".
Indict
- I'm wrong here...huhu! I wrote indite. I spelled it nalang like the way our professor pronounced it. One of my classmates even thought the word was "Inday"...haha!
Yacht
-I'm correct here. Again, it looks simple to spell but it is pronounced as "yatch".

Oooh..not bad. 11 out of 15. I won't say what's the score of the majority. I'll keep it as 2h-am secret nalang. Mam Puno told us that this type of exam is given for grade 6 students. Hwwwhaat?? That's so surprising...yet really disappointing. Grade 6 compared to 2nd year college students? I better read a dictionary. (.^__^.)

Funny post!

Last November 20, 2007, two great tennis living legends had come face to face on an exhibition game held at Seoul, Korea. It's an Asian country so imagine how near Roger Federer is here in my place..oh my gosh! (.^__^.) Anyway it's a game between Roger Federer - the greatest player of my time, and Pete Sampras - the greatest player d uring the 90's. So as a tradition for the Koreans they let the 2 players wear a cute korean dress...like this:

Isn't it they look cute and nice on these costumes..especially the guy wearing the purple one! (.^__^.) Ooohh... so cute!
Okei..back to the game..Roger won against Pete during this exhibition game. Thank god I was able to watch it live on "Balls Channel 33". Here's the story of the game:

OFF COURT - ROGER DEFEATS PETE

In an exhibition match between the giants of tennis present and past, our star defeated Pete Sampras in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

The match in Seoul is the first of three Asian exhibitions the two legends will play. The pair meet again Thursday in Kuala Lumpur before heading to Macau two days later.

Sampras brought cheers from the crowd at Seoul's Olympic Tennis Arena as he fired down two fierce aces in his first service game.

Sampras proceeded to break his opponent's serve and then moved 4-2 ahead courtesy of a delightful drop shot.

"I feel pretty good," Sampras told Korean television after the game. "I made it competitive, which was my goal. Obviously Roger is the best player in the world and I retired five years ago. I am grateful that he invited me."

Roger was equally happy with the workout: "Pete was one of my idols growing up and it's great to play him," Roger said. "It wasn't easy for me, it wasn't easy for him as he's been retired five years. I am number one and everyone expects me to win."

Okei..the font style won't come back to its normal appearance. Never mind that! So, as what is expected Roger won! And since I watched the game
while online I also gave some updates na rin sa website niya because some people who happened to be fans of Federer all over the world wasn't able to catch a live streams of the game on the internet or live telecast on television. I'm so kind, isn't it? hehe... =) Anyway, while I was surfing the forum part I saw this picture which is so funny!
Oh...at last the font style came back to normal. So as what I'm saying, the above pic looks funny and someone edited the picture into something like this:
I love Harry Potter and seeing something like this is really cool! It's not yet over..there's one more picture left that may surprise you..they quite resemble, honestly!
This is POTTERER! Hahaha...so funny!
I love it! (.^__^.)

Just when you think things are getting steady just like the way you like it... then you'll just realize that life isn't always just like that. All I thought that this week will be bright just like the way I predicted it, but there's still a couple of problems and misunderstandings. I do hope things will be okei soon. It's not always "What you see is what you get"...sometimes you just have to look at things more deeper.

Maybe next time, my post will be much more enjoyable compared to this one...
Well, I promise you that!

Vintage Federer

I'm just so happy for this week... There's a lot of good things that had happened plus Roger Federer won last Sunday! I watched it live on television...I did not dare to miss it. At first, I was a bit nervous..as a fan, that must be your attitude. Of course, I want Roger to win and when your favorite player will go up against a good offensive and defensive player, your chances will be 60-40. Luckily, real champions prevail! Here's the story...

Federer dominates Ferrer to win 4th Masters Cup title in 5 years, top $10 million in winnings.

SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- Roger Federer was asked what advice he would offer a player getting ready to face him.

"Don't even try, pal," the top-ranked Swiss star said. "You're probably not going to win."

While Federer was quick to say he was joking, it is pretty accurate right now.

Federer won his fourth Masters Cup title in five years Sunday, overwhelming No.6 David Ferer 6-2, 6-3, 6-2. In dominating a fourth consecutive top-five opponent, he showed that the gap between him and the rest of the men's field is as big as ever.

Against Ferrer, known as one of the quickest and best defensive players, Federer was even quicker in tracking down shots that would have been winners against almost anyone else, never giving up on a point, and mixing in good offense, too.

The scene was similar in Federer's semifinal against second-ranked Rafael Nadal his defensive-minded rival who succumbed in just 59 minutes. And hard-serving No. 5 Andy Roddick could only watch in frustration as Federer landed 83 percent of his own first serves and yielded just two games in two sets.

"He's playing very, very well," Ferrer said in a bit of an understatement. "He has no weak point."

That is indeed what has kept Federer at the top for the fourth straight year. And there's no sign he's slowing down as he prepares to resume his pursuit of Pete Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slams -- he currently has 12 -- at the Australian Open in January. He'll face Sampras this week at an exhibition in Malaysia.

"It was a nice victory, especially proving it, to myself and the world, that I can do it over and over again," Federer said. "This is the year-end tournament that only the best can make it to.

Federer collected $1.2 million and a new car for his 53rd career title, his eighth this year. His season winnings topped $10 million, a record for the ATP Tour.

"I practiced hard to get (to) this level," he said. "So when it all comes together in a finals like today against Ferrer, it's fantastic."

Fantastic indeed. About the only thing that Federer did wrong was continue his poor judgment in challenging line calls.

The Spanish contingent in the chilly but packed 15,000-seat stadium included about two dozen boisterous fans dressed in the red-and-gold national colors. A trumpet player led chants to encourage Ferrer, but should have been playing "Taps" instead as Federer ran his record against the Spaniard to 8-0.

Ferrer was simply no match for Federer's blend of spins, power and volleying skills.

Swiss fans said it all with a banner reading, "Shhh! Quiet! Genius at work."

Ferrer admitted he was a bit nervous playing in his biggest final ever and first Masters Cup. Federer made sure he never got comfortable.

Federer faced a break point at 2-2, 30-40 in the first set, then ran off 18 of the next 19 points. The streak also started a stretch in which Federer won 30 of 33 service points through the end of the second set.

"I surprise myself at times," the 26-year-old Federer said. "I've always had a tendency to all of a sudden go in streaks. Once you get on a roll, it's so hard for the opponent to come back into it. I don't allow them. I can mix it up and change it up. This is my big strength. I hope I can keep that going for many more years to come, obviously."

Ferrer, constantly trying to pick on Federer's backhand, hit two amazing winners while serving at 3-3 in the second set. Federer still broke him. When he sent a backhand long on set point, Ferrer smashed his racket, nearly breaking it in two.

Ferrer got one last shot with three break points as Federer served at 1-1 in the third set, but couldn't convert. Federer then broke him the next game on a forehand passing shot on the run.

The Masters Cup will again be played in Shanghai in 2008, but it will move to London in 2009 for four years and be renamed the ATP World Tour Finals.

It's Saturday and this day is off. I've got no classes..thanks to the scheduled Faculty Recollection in our college for giving us this very precious day to have a rest and have some leisure time. Well, actually I'm supposed to be at school at around 1pm because there's this Pre-Com Math Challenge quiz bee organized by our organization...but I prefer to be where I am right now. Going there is not a "waste of time" but there's actually no classes so why should I be at school.. I'm not being an irresponsible officer but I can be at work when we have classes..isn't it? And besides, I'll be working on the list of those students who still haven't got their membership cards. Our adviser told me that their clearance forms will really be blocked at the end of this semester. Really cruel, huh? If this will happen, these students will not be allowed to enroll unless they pay for their membership.. My deadline is on the 1st week of December. That's a lot of wok..imagine 39 sections. And before I forget I have to work on our elevator pass pa pala... Not all students in our college are given the chance to have an elevator pass...only the privileged ones, and I'm one of them! (.^__^.) Actually I had it last semester and luckily I will have it again this 2nd semester... =)

Okei, enough of org stuff..Let's go to academic stuffs.

Nowadays I'm beginning to love going at our Central Library. Last year I don't really want to go there every now and then because I'm a bit lazy going to different sections. Our library was really big that shocked me when I was still a freshie. But now, I'm starting to love going there. There's a lot of books pala that can be useful in my studies rather than relying on the internet. Some of the info's at the net are junks..not factual, mostly opinions. Most of my subjects now requires some researches in the library so expect me now to be there always.

Speaking of subjects, I love my Speech subject under Ms. Puno. Expressing ones self is really fun. All the activities that we had for the past 2 weeks boost up ones confidence and I'm looking forward for the next week, after next week and.....(.^__^.)

We have a Marketing subject for this semester. Thank God we have this rather than Finance because I am planning to major in Marketing..well it's still just a plan and its not yet final. The problem is our book is worth ***P900.00***. I've seen i
t yesterday and it's like an encyclopedia...all pages are colored. How can I highlight that one? I'm fond pa naman of using a marker to emphasize the terms and paragraphs that are important. Parang nakakahinayang namang i-underline yung mga words. 900.00 is too expensive for you to just mark it as long as you like it..sayang talaga! If I'll buy it.. I want to preserve it...hehe..weird. I'll just think over it again.

My PE subject now is SOFTBALL...it's similar to BASEBALL. Yesterday is my PE day and we first had a film viewing and then a quiz to check how far is our
knowledge about this game. The movie title is the "Benchwarmers" and it's a comedy film. I'm not really fond of watching those types of movies but, somehow, I enjoyed naman. After I've watched it..I'm just so excited to play the game next week. Let's see if I can be a good batter, a pitcher, a catcher or a fielder. Plus, our uniform looks good..really equipped!

After the academic stuffs..let's go to sports stuff! (.^__^.)
Tennis: The ATP Masters Series Season Finale in Shanghai China will soon be over. Roger Federer is already at the Semifinals after beating Andy Roddick yesterday, wonderfully! I stayed home yesterday so as to watch the game live at 7:30p
m on Star Sports Ch. 32. I was so happy with how the game went on...Roger is really playing like a champion and like an angel..He's winning in here..kinda wicked because his opponent had a very disappointing game because of him. He's like an angel because of his smile..(.^__^.) Tonight will be the semifinals game against Rafael Nadal. Unfortunately I won't be able to see it because I have to go somewhere... I just wish the Federer will win. I'm positive about it.
I kept on posting some stuffs in the forum at his website.
http://www.rogerfederer.com/
It's fun to interact with the other fans all over the world. And by the way, last Monday, when I was watching his game against Fernando Gonzalez, I saw one banner from the audience that says "ROGER FEDERER WALASTIK!" Isn't it that the word walastik is a filipino word? So there's some Filipino fans watching there..though they look Chinese because they're singkit..still they are Filipinos. I'm soo envious about it. I really want to watch a tennis game live especially of Federer's and China is near from Philippines...hmmm... Well it's alright! That's one of my dreams, actually!
(.^__^.)

OFF COURT - NUMBER ONE!

Roger had his day off today – but it turned out to be a rather busy one nevertheless, as he was handed the year's top tennis player trophy for the fourth consecutive time at a dazzling ceremony on Tuesday.

Our star received the ATP Race award in front of thousands of fans at Shanghai's Qi Zhong Tennis Stadium, the venue of the ongoing Masters Cup championships. "This is already the fourth consecutive year I've received this trophy, and that is what I expected to defend at the beginning of this year," Roger told the crowd. "It's an amazing run I'm on. Obviously I hope I can maintain it next season. I'll try my best."

Roger has ranked No. 1 every week since first taking over on Feb. 2, 2004, and has ranked No. 1 for 198 weeks as of Nov. 12 and broke record of Connors (160) for most consecutive weeks at No. 1 this season. Congratulations, Roger!

Tennis Master Cup

Today is the start of the Tennis Cup in Shanghai China where only the top 8 tennis players of the world will battle against each other for the season-ending crown. So who will it be? Well, my bet will be Roger Federer as always...but we'll never know what will happen next. For you to have a clue and have some background of those who will play for this event. Let me show you...
ROGER FEDERER (Switzerland) - world's # 1 tennis player

RAFAEL NADAL (Spain) - world's # 2 tennis player

NOVAK DJOKOVIC (Serbia-Montenegro) - world's #3 tennis player

NIKOLAY DAVYDENKO (Russia) - world's # 4 tennis player

ANDY RODDICK (United States) - world's # 5 tennis player

DAVID FERRER (Spain) - world's # 6 tennis player

FERNANDO GONZALEZ (Chile) - world's # 7 tennis player

RICHARD GASQUET (France) - world's # 8 tennis player

So, here they are..the top 8 players of the world! They really deserved to be placed where they are right now because they've worked for it really hard throughout the season..who will be your choice then? (.^__^.)

We had a seminar today about Student's Rights entitled as "The Right Stuff". This seminar was organized by the Pre-Com Society to let the 1st year and 2nd year college students of the Pre-Com department to be aware of the rights of a student here in the college of Commerce and in our University. This seminar actually tackles the issue about our Magna Carta which, till now, haven't been pushed through. I wonder....why is it that at ADMU, DLSU and UP..they have there Magna Carta while at UST, we still have none...for almost 400 years?

The issues that were talked about lead by our speaker are the issues about the professors, the subjects, the grading systems and many more. LIke for example, some of our professors are just being so unfair about giving out our grades. I won't give any names...but it's really happening. There's this one professor which fails students which are girls (well his a MR. or a doubt it) and there's an instance wherein a professor fails a student just because he or she doesn't like him or her. If we have a Magna Carta, surely, these things will not happen. There's one student who voiced out something during the open forum which is quite funny...he said:
"Bakit mga student, na FA (failure due to absences) bakit mga professors, hinde!"
He got a point, isn't it?! (.^__^.)

Next week will be the S.T.R.A.W week or the Students Right and Welfare week. I do hope that our Magna Carta will soon be recognized by the administration so as to give due respect to the rights of the students.

Happy Birthday Medz!

Today is the birthday of a very special friend of mine, Medalene! Can't believe it..she's already 18 years old. hahaha! magkakasing age na kami ngayon. She often teases me kasi that I'm the oldest of the 3...and now we're at the same age..hahaha!

I'm pretty confident that we made her day really happy. We had given her awesome surprises...like we gave her a chocolate cake (which she really loves!) and the messages from our classmates. I haven't finished my message yet so maybe I can give it to her on Monday.

Again, Happy 18th Birthday Medz! (.^__^.)
It's been 2 days since the start of our classes for the 2nd semester and syempre hindi pa heavy load ang mga subjects namin. May iba na nagstart na agad ng lessons and meron din naman na hindi pa pumapasok na professor. I haven't seen 3 of them...professors for Macroeconomics, Sociology and Management. I'm not in a hurry rin naman to meet them, I'm just thinking that maybe they're lazy rin to start classes at once after a long break.

There were some minor changes though. Hindi naman siya halata..pero changes pa rin.
First, we have a new classmate..her name is Lauriza. She's quiet but nice girl and for sure magiingay din yan pag nasanay na siya sa class namin. Her class, 2Iam, was dissolved kaya nadistribute sila to different sections and different sessions. Buti nalang hindi class namin yung nadissolve.

Second, bihira nalang ako makakita ng mga varsity players roaming around the building. Kasi they have different schedule na compared last semester during the UAAP season. I think MID and PM na sila ngayon...so medyo nalungkot kami... =(

Third, may free Wall Street Journal Asia everyday! I think nagpa-subscription ang College of Commerce to aid their future managers and entrepreneur. Since I'm fond of collecting things like this, everyday kumukuha ako ng copy. By the way, there's no new issue of Varsitarian yet! ..can't wait to grab a copy of it. (.^__^.)

Ito lang naman yung mga changes, the rest STILL THE SAME.
I'm just going to give you an update whenever there's something unique or cool going on.
By the way, birthday ni Medz bukas. We have a surprise for her...we're going to give her a cake tomorrow. Can't wait... =)

Federer Holds Session in King Arthur's Court

ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer is a scary sight with a tennis racquet in his hand. But there's no telling how much damage he could do with a sword.

Thankfully an armor-clad Federer was only playing to the camera when he unsheathed a sword recently. Dressed as King Arthur from "The Sword in the Stone" for Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" promotion, Federer was photographed by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz.

The finished photo, entitled "Where You're Always King of the Court," shows Federer, red cape flowing, beside a roiling sea.

"I always think it's cute when little kids dress up as Robin Hood or Tarzan," Federer said. "So when they approached me to do King Arthur I thought the idea was absolutely great. Now that you're older you don't get dressed up for a birthday party any more, so to be in armor was a special thing."

"I did feel strong on that rock. Everybody is looking at me. I'm higher than everybody. I got the sword, I got the armor and I got the longer hair going. It was a lot of fun."

Also photographed recently for Disney Park's 'Year of a Million Dreams' were actresses Rachel Weisz (as Snow White) and Julie Andrews (as the Blue Fairy from "Pinocchio") and Abigail Breslin (as Fira from "Disney Fairies")

They join Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella, Beyoncé as "Alice in Wonderland" twirling in a teacup and David Beckham atop a steed as Prince Phillip from "Sleeping Beauty" in a 14-page insert appearing later this year in several Condé Nast publications. Johansson, Beyoncé and Beckham also starred in the first flight of Leibovitz images last January.

The special insert will be unveiled in the December editions of Cookie, Condé Nast Traveler, Details, Glamour, GQ, Men's Vogue, New Yorker, Self, Vanity Fair, Vogue and W.
