Yesterday was the enrollment day for the incoming freshmen for our college and SA's were required to be present at 7:00am sharp. Super excited na talaga ako to be back kasi nung April 12 pa yung last work day namin. I kinda miss it that's why (because of too much excitement) I arrived school 10 minutes before our call time..heheh! That's early!

By 7:30am we went to the Seminary Gym, the venue for the enrollment just like last year when it was my time.
Anyways, Kuya Patrick assigned me and Melanie in the office part (inside the Seminary Gym) with Sir Nuevo while others were outside. Later on we were joined by Grace. Pagdating namin sa loob we don't know what to do..were just seated on one of those available benches inside waiting for some instructions.
Strict rule: entertain the concerns and problems of Pre-Com students ONLY!
And have a tally sheet of those who were successfully enrolled now for Pre-Com.

Okei...that's kinda hard. First meron kaming kasabay sa enrollment na ibang colleges. Science, Rehabilitation Science, Accountancy and then Commerce. That's really hard! Imagine...thousands of students...
So we thought of a strategy:
"excuse me..pwede patinign ng registration form..Salamat!"
"excuse me...may I see you registration form please?...Thank You!"
English and Tagalog yan just in case my foreign student. So again..paulit-ulit lang yung script namin..broken record again. Plus medyo nagsore yung throat namin and sumakit yung feet and legs namin because me and Melanie were like standing for almost 6 hours or more. We have our snacks but still we must stand and ask every student who were finished and tally on our tally sheet the total of incoming Pre-Com student. So super explain naman kami kung saan yung Tan Yan Kee building for I.D picture and uniforms.
Of course, hindi mo rin naman maiiwasan na there's some parents na pumasok sa loob even though it's not allwed. One reason is that they used their credit cards for payments of tuition fees..their signatures were needed. Some were just worried for their son/daughter..baka daw magkamali sila sa pagbabayad ng money or sa pagkuha ng PE courses. Just like my last year experience... (.^__^.)

And then pag may mga masusungit na parents na kasama yung mga anak nila, natatakot kami ni Melanie na tingnan yung registration forms nila. Meron nga akong experience na dinaanan lang ako while I was asking for the form. Isn't that rude. I quite understand them na they're tired from accompanying their child for enrollment but of course they still have to understand us and the rules of the university. I'm not angry or anything. It's just that their actions were wrong. Super kunot na yung noo nila and then medyo nagtataas na rin ng boses. Buti nalang yung Mommy ko hindi ganon that's why I'm not used to that kind of attitutude. Pero hindi naman lahat ganon yung nakausap kong parents kahapon, some of them lang naman..(.^__^.)

Isa pang experience ko is when it comes for the foreign students. Some of them kasi they're not informing me that they were foreign..that they can't understand Tagalog. Eh ako pa naman when I'm super stressed na, I tend to explain things in Tagalog nalang para mas madali.
One Scenario: There was this guy na after kong makita yung form niya and checked his course, he asked me na what's next. Since it wasn't that obvious na he's a foreigner I explained to him everything in pure Tagalog. I noticed na medyo at lost siya sa mga sinabi ko so I gave him other direction - -other short cut! And then all of a sudden he will said to me in a soft voice na "I'm foreigner"
Super natawa talaga ako sa nangyari..and then natawa rin siya..hehe! Of course I explained everything in English - - and he got the message clearly.

Habang patapos na yung day and our total reached to a sum of 600+ students..medyo fulfilled na ako sa mga nagawa ko..proud that this day was finally over with no problems at all. I just realized na I was a bit wrong because of this student. This was the story:
There was this guy again who was having a problem since the time he entered the gym. He caught my attention because I remebered him during their confirmation of slots. He confirmed his slot in my classroom where I was assigned. As I was busy on my job I saw him frequently looking at the exit door, almost at my direction. I thought that maybe his looking for his parents, he might pay using a credit card. Melanie even teased me to go to him and assist him so that his current problem will be solved. ). Eventually, I didn't come over - that's really embarassing and besides security guards were there to assist the students on the payment counters. That's their job. After a couple of minutes, fewer and fewer students were left inside and as for me (and for others, of course!) I'm happy that this day will finally be off. Later on I saw that this guy that I was talking about was coming over to the exit door. I was prepairing myself to look at his student registration form even if I know that he's a Pre-com enrollee. When I asked for his form he told me that he's not yet over. He lacks something and that is the signature of his parents on the Drug Policy document of UST. Since that's his situation I told him to leave his form to me because the guards won't let him go out with his registration form. 15 minutes had passed - no sign of him. I was getting nervous because he's not coming back. What was he thinking? He can't enroll without this form. He haven't even payed yet. And oh by the way, his name is Adrian. I saw it on his form.
Anyways, my conscience kept on bothering me.
30 minutes had passed - still no sign. I got even more tensed when Sir Nuevo said that we must start packing-up. Since I have no choice, I asked Sir Nuevo about my problem and luckily he took hold of that form. He's just going to contact this student and let him enroll on the time he comes back.
I hope everything will be fine before June 13...

We will come back sometime on May. I still don't know the schedule. They will just inform me through text message.
okei! bye-bye! (.^__^.)
Every work day is a new experience...

The Great Pinoy Big Brother Swap Begins!

Two different countries. Two different cultures. Two housemates exchanged ‘lives’ as they venture into the much-awaited historical happening on the Philippine television! The housemates’ 55th day inside the house explodes with a groundbreaking event as the first Big Brother Swap between the Philippines and Slovenia begins!

At Big Brother’s Eviction Hall, no less than an ati-atihan dance performance signaled the opening of the first night of the Slovenian housemate Tina Semolic here in our country. But inside the house, Nel was called to the confession room to be told about a very special guest that they will be welcoming. They were given instructions to treat Tina well and to show her how respectable Filipinos are.

Back to back with this thrilling occasion is the birthday celebration of Robert, made special with the children’s party theme complete with super fun kiddie games and costumes, which they had earlier this afternoon. But for tonight, they are looking their gorgeous best in their striking red outfits!

Wearing her country’s national costume, Tina meets for the first time her Filipino housemates for one whole week! She introduced herself as a housemate from Big Brother Slovenia. Bringing with her a very special present for Robert, she gave him a box of personalized Slovenian baked heart-shaped chocolate cookies!

She definitely came as a surprise to the housemates as they ask her questions like “Are you touring Big Brother from around the world?” “Do you have any hobbies?” “Do you eat rice..bread..oatmeals?” “How do you find the girls?” At this very moment, the housemates are comfortably getting to know their new housemate.

Perfect! This is said to be the Slovenian Beauty’s favorite expression. This is also the first
exclamation of Nel when he first saw her. Having this in common with him, will Tina find a close friend in PBB’s self-confessed Mr. Perfect? More importantly, how will she easily mix in given her different beliefs and Western background?

Meanwhile, Bruce is about to enter the Slovenian Big Brother House. How will he cope with his new environment and foreign housemates?

Work experience - 3rd day

** continuation**
April 12, 2007 - Thursday
Last day of confirmation of slots, this time it's for the wait listers. Hindi na namin kasama si Ms. Mau because she had some appointments in Iloilo so she can't make it for today. I felt comfortable parin dealing with her.
At around 8:00am we started accepting students. In the end of the day, I'm proud of our performance because we didnt encountered any problems...everything went smoothly.

Sa mga students naman, same impression like on our first day. Syempre most of them felt lost in their new environment for the next 4 years. Habang nakikita ko sila, naimagine ko yung sarili ko last year...ganito pala yung reaction ko. It's a bit funny, pero at least nakapag-adjust na ako ngayon..feels like UST is my 2nd home.

His name is Nino and he's from Xavier school. (I won't tell nalang kung sino. I might as well keep it as a secret of mine!) He knows the person naman and he even told me that they were classmates nung 3rd yr. highschool sila, but now hindi na. I was happy when I found out na he knows this person..I don't know why! basta.... (.^__^.)
His course was supposed to be Architecture kaya naguguluhan siya kung magpapass na siya ng credentials sa Commerce kasi 1st choice niya yung Architecture..2nd choice yung Commerce. Pero, he decided to have a slot narin sa college namin kasi baka hindi siya umabot dun sa isa...baka wala pa siyang mapasukang college sa UST in the end.
But honestly, he's good looking and very friendly. Ganon kaya lahat ng mga student from Xavier?... I have no idea.

We'll be back on April 24 for their enrollment. At least I can have a rest and enjoy my vacation again. It's hard rin pala to work 10 hours a day..pero okei lang yun kasi I'm able to be of service for my college and meron din naman akong marereceive na reward. I still don't know how much it is, but it doesnt really matter. I enjoyed this experience and I'm really lucky to be here.

Work Experience - 2nd day

**continuation**

April 11, 2007 - Wednesday
Luckily, we were required to be at school at exactly 7:30am...so I arrived on time. Same settings except for the beginning letters of the surnames that we will entertain - - letters Y and Z. Whaaaat?! gaano karami naman kaya ngayon? Maswerte pa kami kung may isang student na dumating. Buti nalang we brought with us some books so that we won't get bored. Pinag-usapan talaga namin yun last time! Ms. Mau even prepared us for the Yu Family, Zaragosa Family and Zamora family...is there?

As expected 16 students lang yung nagpaconfirm sa amin... at least mas marami compared sa W and X surnames sa room 416. ( may competition kasi kami each room..hehe!) Half day lang kami sa work ngayon so I have the time to visit my org kasi may work parin dun. This day is quite fine, medyo nakakabitin lang..gusto ko kasi yung mafifeel ko na I'm super stressed..yung matrabaho talaga!

Work Experience - 1st day

Hello friends! I know it's a bit late but I want to share to you guys my work experience as a Student Assistant last April 10, 11 and 12... (.^__^.)

April 10, 2007 - Tuesday
It's hard for me to wake up so early but I have no choice. We were required by Sir Nuevo to be at UST at exactly 7:00am, but I arrived school at 7:30am...
Pagdating ko sa Nerve Center room, some teased me na "bagong gising si Marielle!" Hmmmm.. hirap lang talaga akong gumising ng maaga, super obvious sa face ko that time. Anyways, naassign na sa amin ni Melanie and Ms. Mau yung mga surnames of applicants starting H-I from 8 to 11am, and surnames Q-R from 12 to 3 pm. Nakakatuwa nga eh kasi for sure konti lang yung mga students with surmanes starting H and I lalo naman Q! Medyo expect lang namin yung mga R, kaya work was not that stressful compared to my expectations.
First client namin was a girl. Her name is Karen and she's a Japanese-Filipino...she's quite nice and she resembles Kim Chui. Actually ganito yung script namin:
Ms. Mau: Hi! Good Morning.
Marielle: Hello..surname please.
(check kung nasa Master list yung surname)
Melai: Okei..pakifill-up nalang nitong Personal Data Sheet.
(after a couple of minutes, pag tapos na niyang ifill-up yung form)
Melai: Pwedeng paprepare nung Form 138
Marielle: Good Moral Character and picture
(pag napakita na niya yung complete credentials)
Melai: (explains NSTP)
Ite-take mo yung ROTC pag 1st year and LTS or CWTS for 2nd year.
(after ng explanation)
Marielle: Pa-fill-up naman dito. Surname, First name and Middle Initial.
(after makapagfill-up)
M: pili ka ng session: AM, MID or PM. Patingin nalang sa board ng schedule.
(after makapili ng schedule)
M: Valedictorian or Salutatorian ka ba?
(after sumagot)
M: Okei..paglabas mo dito meron kang makikita na bulletin board for PE courses.

**So yan ang script namin. Parang super superior yung dating namin sa kanila and they see to it na they understood all the things that we explained to them. Ate talaga yung tawag nila sa amin ni Melai, eh majority naman sa kanila is a year younger lang or ka-age pa namin. Pero, ganon talaga eh. As what Sir Nuevo had mentioned to us, once you've become a Student Assistant you become different, far from being a normal student. Meron kang responsibilty that you must handle well and you must reflect the image of a true Thomasian, inside and out.

For the whole day we entertained a total of 33 students...that's a little number actually because we expected a lot this day. Maybe the reason is that H, I, Q and R ung surnames na napunta sa amin kaya konti talaga. But that's fine...no problem about that. The real problem is that a total of 429 students only confirmed their slots today..eh the expected sum was supposed to be 500 or more students in order to meet the desired 1,200 enrollees for this academic year. We got a deficit of 71 plus students. Well, we just have to make it sure na mababawi namin yun on the next 2 days.

Observations naman sa mga incoming frehman, super iba-iba yung attitude nila towards us and to their new environment. Meron ibang super panic, they don't know what to do next up to the point it gets obvious on their eyes, on they way they talk or move. Some were like babies, you must instruct them one by one in details. Others were so maangas. They're so eager to go out of the room leaving you clueless if they really understood the reminders that we had given to them. And of course, there were some students na nakikipagbonding na agad, super ask ng questions, feel close na agad... nakikitawa na rin sa mga corny jokes namin...hehe! (.^__^.)

Pero yung isang student na naretain sa mind ko was the student from Ateneo High School. His name is Benhur and there's something weird with him. Guess what is it? His perfume...nagspread kasi agad sa buong room and (though it sounds rude)..it smells like the air freshner from a restroom. I'm not kidding! And medyo one of a kind pa yung middle name niya na Fantastico. But, in spite of that, he's good looking and super bilis pang kausap. He was supposed to be in AB Legal Management course but because of sobrang pagpipilit ni Ms. Mau na dito nalang siya sa Commerce kasi mas masaya sa college namin..nagdecision siya to enter our college without even asking the permission of his parents who were both lawyers! Ang lakas talaga ng convincing powers namin!

Okie...this was my day! It's a tiring day, honestly.. but it's worth my efforts!

Cogito Ergo Sum

Cogito Ergo Sum - I doubt, therefore I exist.
The Gospel for today's Sunday Mass is about the doubting Thomas. We attended the anticipated Sunday mass at SM Megamall today and Fr. Mario (the priest presider) said that in our life, we cannot refuse to doubt about some things that exist or those that do not exist. We have the tendency to trust or mistrust the things that are perceived by our senses but when it comes to our faith, we just have to place our BIG TRUST to God. Through the apostle Thomas, we were healed in our faith to Jesus Christ and to God the Father.
The priest really caught my attention when he mentioned the phrase, "Cogito Ergo Sum", the same phrase that we used to study in our lessons for Philosophy. I think those words came from Rene Descartes, The Father of Modern Philosophy.
Sometimes, I just have to look back on my past lessons... (.^__^.)
PBB Update:
The tension was over at last! Another housemate was again evicted and this time it's Kian. Buti nalang hindi si Bodie. Actually, it's a tough match talaga. During the announcement of Toni Gonzaga...she mentioned the names of those who were saved by the televiewers. First name she mentioned was Gee-Ann, next was Dionne...so Bodie and Kian was left, and there's the commercial break.
I was really nervous because there's a BIG possibility that Bodie will be the unlucky housemate.
"Waaah..wala na akong reason to watch PBB 24/7..wala na akong inspiration", I said.
When Toni was back, she mentioned na nga which housemate is evicted and it's Kian. I burst out and cheered so loud for Bodie because he was saved by the people. But on the other hand, sayang din si Kian...masarap pa naman siyang magluto and very patawa pa siya sa house. He's a very optimistic person rin. There's no more cook in the house!!
Well, it's a game and if it's just not meant for you..you just have to give it up. Maybe better things are destined for him. We'll never know..biglang maging sikat si Kian!...super nice!...he got the looks and the appeal. Let's wait and see.

By the way, here's the result of the text votes:
Gee-Ann = 28.19%
Dionne = 26.65%
Bodie = 24.90%
Kian = 19.55%
**meron akong contribution dun sa 24.90%..hehe!

Surprise Celebrity Visit

Tirso Cruz III makes a special appearance at the PBB house! Actually, it’s just Bodie dressed like his dad in the 70s, carrying the Guy and Pip doll, which is a memento of their remarkable love tandem in the big screen.

After watching the film Bilangin Ang Bituin starring Mr. Tirso Cruz III and Ms. Nora Aunor, Big Brother asked Bodie to emulate his father as part of the 70’s theme the Housemates are reviving throughout the day. Again, with Maria Leonora Theresa, a remembrance that Tirso gave Nora in their soaring career days, and shirts with Nora Aunor’s picture on them for the girls and Tirso’s for the boys, they’re all set to rekindle the past. The brief role-playing showed the fanatics of Guy&Pip love team as the HMs welcome "Pip" with a bunch of sampaguita lei.
Together with the housemates, Bodie took a walk down memory lane as he talk about his father’s
passion for his craft as an actor. They discussed how being teamed up with the Superstar for so long developed a lot of fanatics for them both. In their days, Maria Leonora Theresa was showered with a lot of gifts (even real necklaces!), making it a part of Guy & Pip’s extraordinary showbiz history. The followers of their tandem even got overboard as they confuse “reel” with “real” particularly when Tirso started to have his family. They had a distorted perception that his wife is a Guy&Pip-relationship wrecker!

Bodie then shared with the housemates some anecdotes about his life as a showbiz child. He tells about how he is pressured to be the perfect son by the people around him since he is a son of a famous and well-respected actor. It was a hard time for him in the past to prove his self-worth without being pre-judged that the recognitions he earned for his accomplishments are not due to his own efforts but only because of special treatments in lieu of his dad’s popularity.

He also elaborated that he never took advantage of the privileges that come with his dad’s fame. Looking back to his experience in joining PBB, he claims that he underwent the same thing that the other Housemates experienced before being finally accepted to enter Big Brother’s House. This down-to-
earth guy further explains that it is just not in his nature to let the world know that he is a showbiz child - not because he is not proud of his father, but only to avoid any issue of being favored.

Being on the hot seat this time, the housemates took this opportunity to get to know Bodie more through his dad and how having a prominent celebrity father reflected on who he is now. But the winning question that was thrown at him came from
This brought another round of loud chuckles among them.

bb2.pinoybigbrother.com - - for more details!

I'm at school at around 10:30am because we have a meeting for Precom Society. Since we will be the next officers for the next academic year we have to prepare a Thank You party for those officers na papalitan namin. Meron kaming plan to have a play kung saan gagayahin namin yung ibang officers , how they more or the way they talk. Kami nina Dane and Medz, we're the Banana Girls..hehe! We will copy ate Lao, ate Grace and ate Rexa.
That's a lot of fun! Can't imagine myself to dance those funny dance steps. Dapat pala may videocam para mas enjoy. And then meron din kaming mga awards na ibibigay sa kanila like Mr. Precom T-shirt Award, Banana Girls award, Corpse Bride Award..etc. And there's some hot seat questions too..super exciting talaga!

Yellow Envelope
5th - Orientation of what we will do on the confirmation dates (April 10 to 12)

b. Give the Personal Data Sheet (to be filled up and to be passed on that day).
c. Orient the students about PE courses and NSTP
**for NSTP choose between ROTC, LTS or CWTS

e. Professor will issue the COE and Drug Policy of UST which they have to submit on the enrollment date.
Okei... the work sounds complicated. It requires 100% presence of mind..pero for sure kayang-kaya namin yan ni Melanie! I'm excited na talaga tomorrow. For sure may mga good-looking students bukas! hehehe...syempre isang factor din yun. But still - work is our FIRST PRIORITY. Wish me luck! (.^__^.)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone!
Holy week is over and it's the start of a new life for us all Christians.
I do hope na you reflected well during this past few days and had dedicated your time to going to church or simply by praying.
My Mom and I attented a Lenten Recollection last Wednesday and it's worth it. I've learned alot from the bishops and priests who shared some stories and experiences about Christ which really helped me to reflect about my Life that I had lived and the Life that I will live.

PBB Update:
There's a new set of nominees for the next eviction night and you know what Bodie was one of those who were nominated. huhu...super violation kasi eh! So it means, I'm gonna vote for him this time..haha! I want him to stay sa PBB house..his a good housemate naman eh..

..cge I'm gonna get ready my fone pa for voting..
haha! Okei..byie.. (.^__^.)
CLEARANCE DAY
Today is our Clearance Day. I woke up at 7:00am for we were required to be at school from 9:30 to 10:00am for clearance sheets were only available within that time. As always medyo kabado na naman ako sa results ng gardes ko for this semester. Honestly, I wasnt able to sleep that well last night because my mind was in chaos due to constant worrying about my grades. But I'm really excited to go to school to see again my friends and classmates. Luckily, and as expected, I PASSED all 26 units - 9 subjects all in all...my prayers were heard and granted! Thank You God! My hardworks had finally paid off. All those sleepless nights and days of cramming, deep memorization and finalization of my projects and term papers - - time to leave them and face another year. Shucks... 2nd year college na ako!

OFFICERS FOR PRECOM
As Junior Officers for Precom Society, It's now time to take over and be THE OFFICERS. You know what I mean? Hands-on to work..no longer the "utusan" of the organization. Yey! Of course, gusto ko rin namang maging officer next academic year para maapply ko rin yung trainng na ginawa nung ibang officers sa amin. Well, let's wait anf see kung anong position yung ibibigay nila sa akin..(meron nga ba?..hehe!) Hmmm..I've decided to become an officer..I will not quit this time.

BUSINESS MINDS
One of my classmates is on business right now. She likes to call it "Virtual Franchising". Since it's summer vacation...she wants to earn some money and make herself busy and productive. She asked me to join her..dapat nga pupunta na ako sa orientation ngayon somewhere in Ortigas. I think it's on the Octagon building...kaya lang I have some other plans so next time nalang. I have to consult my Mom first about this before I become involved. Pero, the business sounds great.. the company is based on New York..blah,blah,blah. I don't know the details eh..next time nalang! (.^__^.)

AT LAST, ICE SKATING
This is the real reason..I cant go to the orientation because of Ice Skating. I got some coupons..so it means.. it's ICE SKATING TIME! Super excited na nga ako eh kasi almost a year na rin since the last time I'm on ice. I enjoyed naman and buti nalang alam ko pa magskate.. Ang happy ko talaga..sana may next time pa!

PBB Update!
Zeke is out of Big Brother's house..GrrRR...! I expected that Dionne will be the one to be evicted last Saturday..but turn of events. Whew..can't believe it!

..cge, till here nalang! wait for more updates... (.^__^.)
